Backup & Disaster Recovery Planning
Defining recovery objectives, designing backup and failover for cloud and hybrid workloads, and testing recovery regularly, so you can restore operations after ransomware, outages or human error.
Overview
Why it matters
for your business.
Most organisations have some backups. Fewer know how long a full restore would take, whether backups are safe from ransomware, or who does what when the primary region or data centre fails. Backup and disaster recovery planning answers these questions before an incident, when there is time to think clearly.
We work with business owners to set recovery time and recovery point objectives for each system, then design backup policies, immutable copies and cross-region or secondary-site replication to meet them. A written DR plan covers roles, communication and step-by-step recovery. Crucially, we run restore tests and DR drills, record results and fix gaps, aligning with CERT-In incident expectations.
What's included
- Business impact analysis with RTO and RPO
- Backup policy covering cloud and on-premise data
- Immutable and off-site backup design
- Disaster recovery runbooks per critical system
- Restore tests and DR drill reports
- Incident communication and escalation plan
Outcomes
What changes
for your business.
Ideal for
- Businesses that have never tested a restore
- Regulated firms needing documented DR plans
- Companies concerned about ransomware attacks
Known recovery capability
Tested restores show how quickly each system can actually return, replacing assumptions with evidence.
Ransomware resilience
Immutable, isolated backups give you a clean copy to restore from even if production is encrypted.
Calm incident response
Clear roles and runbooks mean your team knows exactly what to do when a disaster occurs.

What are RTO and RPO, and why do they matter?
RTO is how long a system can be down before it seriously harms the business. RPO is how much data, measured in time, you can afford to lose. Together they decide how often to back up and how fast recovery must be, which drives cost and design.
How often should we test disaster recovery?
Critical systems typically warrant restore tests at least quarterly and a broader DR exercise once or twice a year, plus after major changes. We help you set a realistic schedule and can run the tests for you, recording results for auditors.
