Docker Containerization

Packaging your applications into Docker containers with clean, secure images and Compose setups, so they run the same way on laptops, test servers and production.

Overview

Why it matters
for your business.

"It works on my machine" is a familiar problem. Differences between developer laptops, staging and production servers cause bugs, slow onboarding and nervous deployments. Docker containerisation packages your application with its runtime and dependencies, giving every environment the same, predictable build. It is also a natural first step towards Kubernetes or managed container platforms.

We write efficient, multi-stage Dockerfiles for your services, keeping images small and free of unnecessary tools. Secrets are kept out of images, containers run as non-root users and images are scanned for known vulnerabilities. Docker Compose files let developers start the whole stack locally with one command, and we set up a private registry for versioned images.

What's included

  • Optimised multi-stage Dockerfiles per service
  • Docker Compose setup for local development
  • Private container registry configuration
  • Image vulnerability scanning in the build
  • Environment variable and secrets handling approach
  • Developer guide for building and running containers

Outcomes

What changes
for your business.

Ideal for

  • Development teams with inconsistent environments
  • Legacy applications preparing for cloud
  • Startups planning a move to Kubernetes

Consistent environments

The same container image runs in development, testing and production, reducing environment-specific bugs.

Faster developer onboarding

New team members can run the full application locally with one command instead of lengthy setup guides.

Safer images

Smaller, scanned, non-root images reduce the attack surface of everything you deploy.

How we deliver

A clear, accountable
process.

Every engagement follows the same disciplined approach, adapted to the size and urgency of your project.

  1. 01

    Assess

We review your current systems, costs, risks and constraints, and agree what success looks like.

  2. 02

    Design

You get a target architecture and a phased roadmap with clear effort, risks and dependencies.

  3. 03

    Implement

We build, configure or migrate with change control, testing and minimal disruption.

  4. 04

    Operate & optimise

Monitoring, documentation and regular reviews keep performance, security and costs on track.

FAQ

Common
questions.

Something else on your mind? Ask us directly.

Can older applications be containerised?

Many can. PHP, Java, .NET Framework on Windows containers, Python and Node.js applications are commonly containerised with little code change. Applications that store files locally or depend on specific hardware need more work, and we identify those adjustments during an initial assessment.

Do we need Kubernetes after containerising?

Not necessarily. Small applications often run well on a single server with Docker Compose or a managed service like AWS ECS, Azure Container Apps or Google Cloud Run. Kubernetes makes sense when you have many services, teams or demanding scaling needs.
