Does llms.txt actually work?
It is a proposed convention, and support among AI platforms is limited and inconsistent. It is cheap to add and may help some tools. Far more important are robots.txt rules, firewall settings and pages that render without JavaScript, which is where most of our work goes.
If we block AI training bots, will we disappear from AI answers?
Not necessarily. Several providers separate training crawlers from search or retrieval crawlers. You can, for example, block GPTBot while allowing OAI-SearchBot. We explain each option’s trade-offs before changing anything.
