Accessibility & Multilingual Portal Development

Make new or existing portals usable by people with disabilities and speakers of Indian languages, meeting WCAG and GIGW expectations through audits, remediation and multilingual content management.

Overview

Why it matters
for your business.

Public portals often exclude the people who most need them. Screen reader users meet unlabelled buttons and inaccessible captchas, older citizens struggle with tiny text and many people cannot read English comfortably. Accessibility is expected under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016 and GIGW. We audit, fix and build portals so they work for users with disabilities and in multiple Indian languages.

Accessibility work combines automated scanning with manual testing using screen readers such as NVDA and keyboard-only navigation, since tools alone miss many issues. We fix templates, forms, documents and media, and provide accessible captcha alternatives. For multilingual support, we set up content workflows for each language, Unicode fonts that render Indian scripts correctly and machine-assisted translation reviewed by people. Content editors learn to keep new pages accessible.

FAQ

Common
questions.

Something else on your mind? Ask us directly.

Can you make our existing portal accessible without rebuilding it?

Usually, yes. Most issues sit in templates, forms and content, which can be fixed within the current platform. We audit first, prioritise issues by impact on users, and remediate in phases. A rebuild is only recommended when the underlying platform cannot support accessible output.

Is machine translation good enough for official content?

Machine translation, including tools such as Bhashini, speeds up the work but should not be published unchecked for official information. We set up a workflow where translations are reviewed by a qualified language reviewer before publishing, and maintain glossaries so terms stay consistent across pages.
