Virtual Machine Deployment & Management

Provisioning virtual machines from standard templates and managing their lifecycle, including sizing, patching, snapshots and decommissioning, so your virtual estate stays tidy and right-sized.

Overview

Why it matters
for your business.

Virtualisation makes new servers easy to create, which is also its weakness. Without standards, VMs are built inconsistently, oversized "just in case", left unpatched and never removed when projects end. This VM sprawl consumes capacity, licences and backup storage. Our service brings order to how virtual machines are requested, built, maintained and retired.

We create hardened, regularly updated templates for your common operating systems and roles. New VMs are deployed from these templates with consistent naming, tagging, sizing and backup policies. Ongoing management covers guest patching, snapshot hygiene, right-sizing based on real usage and periodic reviews of owners. Unused VMs are archived and removed through an agreed decommissioning process.

Outcomes

What changes
for your business.

Ideal for

  • Growing virtual estates with VM sprawl
  • IT teams handling frequent server requests
  • Development teams needing quick test servers

Consistent server builds

Every new VM starts from a known, secure template, cutting configuration errors and setup time.

Controlled VM sprawl

Owners, reviews and decommissioning stop unused virtual machines from silently consuming capacity and licences.

Capacity freed up

Right-sizing returns unused CPU, memory and storage to the cluster for new workloads.

How we deliver

A clear, accountable
process.

Every engagement follows the same disciplined approach, adapted to the size and urgency of your project.

  1. 01

    Assess

We review your current systems, costs, risks and constraints, and agree what success looks like.

  2. 02

    Design

You get a target architecture and a phased roadmap with clear effort, risks and dependencies.

  3. 03

    Implement

We build, configure or migrate with change control, testing and minimal disruption.

  4. 04

    Operate & optimise

Monitoring, documentation and regular reviews keep performance, security and costs on track.

FAQ

Common
questions.

Something else on your mind? Ask us directly.

Can developers request VMs themselves?

Yes, with guardrails. We can set up a self-service catalogue through tools such as VMware Aria Automation, HPE Morpheus or simple scripted workflows, where approved users choose from predefined sizes and templates, and every VM is tagged with an owner and expiry date.

How do you decide a VM is oversized?

We look at CPU, memory and disk usage over several weeks, including peaks such as month-end processing. If a VM consistently uses far less than allocated, we propose a smaller size, agree it with the owner and adjust during a maintenance window.
