Security Logging & Audit Trail Implementation
Capturing, protecting and retaining the security events and user activity records you need to detect incidents, investigate them and meet CERT-In and audit expectations.
Overview
Why it matters
for your business.
When an incident happens, the first question is what occurred, and too often the logs cannot answer it. Applications may not record logins, permission changes or data exports; servers rotate logs after days; and nobody reviews anything. CERT-In’s 2022 directions also expect many organisations to maintain ICT system logs for a rolling 180 days within India.
We define which events matter: authentication, privilege changes, sensitive data access, configuration changes and administrative actions. Applications are instrumented to produce structured, tamper-evident audit trails. Logs from servers, cloud and applications are centralised, time-synchronised, access-controlled and retained according to policy, with alert rules for suspicious patterns that warrant prompt investigation.
What's included
- Security event and audit logging requirements
- Application audit trail implementation
- Centralised log collection and storage
- Time synchronisation and tamper protection
- Retention policy aligned to CERT-In directions
- Alert rules for suspicious activity
Outcomes
What changes
for your business.
Ideal for
- Organisations subject to CERT-In log retention
- Fintech and healthtech platforms
- SaaS products needing customer-visible audit logs
Investigations become possible
Complete, time-synchronised records let you reconstruct what happened during a security incident.
Earlier detection
Alert rules surface suspicious logins and privilege changes rather than leaving them buried in files.
Audit evidence available
Retained audit trails help demonstrate accountability to regulators, auditors and enterprise clients.

FAQ
Common
questions.
Something else on your mind? Ask us directly.
What should we avoid putting in logs?
Passwords, OTPs, full card numbers, Aadhaar numbers and session tokens should never be logged, and other personal data should be minimised or masked. Logs are themselves sensitive data, so we design them to be useful for security without creating a new privacy risk.
Do we need a full SIEM platform?
Not necessarily at first. Centralised logging with sensible alert rules is a solid start for many MSMEs. A SIEM adds correlation, threat detection content and case management, which becomes valuable as your environment and security team grow.
